Kids know what they like. For four- through eight-year-olds, it’s telling silly stories, playing games (with rules, of course!), and sharing new things. Our interactive Rhythm Kids Online classes tap into how big kids are wired to learn. Music games, rhythm pattern play, drumming, and more engage their creativity—and inspire them to explore their musicality in new ways, both during and outside class. (No promises, but you just might find your child making music instead of watching YouTube!)
During each weekly, high-energy class, kids have a blast singing, dancing, and jamming to rhythms and tunes inspired by musical traditions around the world. Their specially trained teacher leads group and individual activities that get students up and moving as they learn to compose, choreograph, and conduct. Bonus: The music and movement activities naturally support several key developmental areas, including executive function, emerging math skills, and leadership.
Every child needs this program! It is an excellent preparation for ANY other instrument lessons. Your child’s future music teachers will thank you!
What are Rhythm Kids® classes like?
In Rhythm Kids® classes, students explore rhythm by playing with music from around the world. Music Together®–trained teachers lead dynamic classroom activities designed especially for early elementary students/preschoolers, and the discovery continues at home with the interactive Rhythm Kids videos, easily viewable on our app. As they drum, sing, play instruments, participate in music-based games, and move to different rhythms, children naturally build musicality that helps them prepare for formal music lessons. In class we create opportunities to sing and drum solo, work in ensembles, and improvise, supporting your child’s social and listening skills, self-expression, and self-confidence.
This winter’s ELEPHANT collection features triple-meter drumming patterns inspired by the traditional social dance from Mali known as Suku. We’ll enjoy dramatic play in “Elephant Stampede” and choreographed dancing and drumming in “Music Everywhere.” We’ll also learn a Gaelic children’s song called “Dilín ó Deamhas” and, of course, have a blast doing “The Elephant Dance”! All 22 songs in this collection have been chosen and arranged specifically to support each student’s music development.
